On behalf of the staff and students at Nodaway Valley, welcome to our website. We hope you will check it often as it contains important information and is updated regularly.
I am excited to begin my third year as superintendent at Nodaway Valley. My journey in education began in 1998 when I earned a B.S. degree from Iowa State in Political Science and Secondary Education. I began my teaching and coaching career in the Seymour Community School District as a junior high social studies teacher and varsity basketball coach. In 2002, I received my M.S. degree in educational leadership from Drake University. My administrative career began in 2002 at Elk Horn-Kimballton CSD where I served as high school principal. In 2006, I received my Ed.S. from Drake and began serving as superintendent of schools at Elk Horn-Kimballton CSD. Recently I received my Ed.D again as a Bulldog! I have always believed in life-long learning and I have continued to challenge myself in my own learning
At Nodaway Valley, we are committed to educational excellence. We have a long history of conducting quality professional development in our school district to ensure that teachers are using instructional strategies that are proven to be effective through educational research. We have remained focused on literacy to ensure that every student can read, write and communicate effectively when they leave Nodaway Valley. In an effort to better prepare students for life after high school and to better engage them in the learning process we implemented a 1:1 laptop initiative in grades 7-12. We continue to create a safe, caring and challenging learning environment for our students.
We encourage your participation in the process of making Nodaway Valley a world-class school. I welcome your ideas related to this endeavor. I can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org or 641-743-6127.
Dr. Casey Berlau, Superintendent
